Are You Becoming Greater ?

Are you becoming greater and greater as a Christian?
Let’s look at a statement made concerning King David…..
“David became greater and greater, for the LORD God of hosts was with him.” 2 Samuel 5:10
Though the Lord may not be preparing us to lead a Nation as David was, we too should constantly be in a state of getting greater (or better) in our Christian walk. We should be constantly improving, continually aspiring to be more like Jesus!
If we’re not improving daily, then we might need to examine why.
Or we burdened by sin we can’t conquer? Are we lackadaisical in our Christianity? Or worse, is the Lord of Hosts not with us as He was with King David?
You might counter with something like “Pastor Mike, David was special to the Lord and He had great plans for him.”
I would agree. But where is it written that He doesn’t have great plans for you? And further, where is it written that He won’t be with you? Quite the contrary, He WILL be with you! Let’s examine some verses to that effect…..
Of course we all are familiar with this one…..
“For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”Jeremiah 29:11
But there are many more…..
“The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.”Proverbs 16:9
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”Psalms 32:8
“And the LORD will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in scorched places, and give strength to your bones; and you will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.”Isaiah 58:11
“The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way.”Psalms 37:23
“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.””1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT
“But if you remain in Me and My words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”John 15:7 NLT
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”Philippians 1:6
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”Psalms 84:11
“Commit your works to the LORD and your plans will be established.”Proverbs 16:3
And there are many more, but I’m attempting to encourage you that you can become greater and can be victorious in living for the Lord each day! If you’ll simply abide in Him, and listen to Him, and be obedient to Him, you will succeed! The promises of the Lord are many in regard to what He will do for a man or woman whose heart is to follow hard after Him! You’ll be like King David, and you’ll become greater each day!
And that’s the way I see it!
