Tour Bus Crash Leaves Two Dead

DeSoto County, Ms

A tour bus from Alabama believed to be heading to the casinos in Tunica lost control and flipped onto its side, killing 2 and sending others to local hospitals.

At this time, icy roads are believed to be the cause of the crash.

The crash happened at I-269 and Highway 78 near the Marshall County line.

Nineteen of the passengers were transported to Baptist Hospital in Southaven – three were listed in serious condition while the condition for the other passengers has not been disclosed. The status of the remaining passengers is unknown at this time.

The bus was driving from Huntsville, Alabama with 47 passengers on board between the ages of 40 and 70 years old.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is working the crash along with members from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department and Southaven Police.

Chief Deputy Macon Moore says his deputies are working multiple crashes throughout the county, including one involving an 18-wheeler. “Driver need to slow down and proceed with caution”. he said.

The tour bus owners, Teague VIP Express, located in Anniston, Alabama posted a message to its social media account saying, “Our hearts and prayers go out to victims of this tragedy. Please keep everyone involved and families in your prayers.”
