Who Is Worthy Of Your Worship ?

Let me ask a question. Which religious figure, apart from God, stands alone as worthy of your worship? Let us first examine the attributes of God Himself. Consider this verse…..
“What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.”
Matthew 10:29 NLT
What knowledge, or presence, or awareness, or ability would it take for a Diety to be aware of every single bird that falls to the ground throughout all the world on any given day?
That my friends is the God I serve. He is constantly aware, constantly watching, constantly seeing, constantly in tune with His Universe and He is certainly worthy of worship!
Isaiah the prophet had much to say about the wonder of God. He spoke of His attributes, His wisdom, the fact that He created the Universe without anyone advising Him…..
“Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or as His counselor has informed Him? With whom did He consult and who gave Him understanding? And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge and informed Him of the way of understanding?”
Isaiah 40:13-14
Our God needed no one to teach Him! He is all-knowing, possessing all understanding. He IS wisdom! He IS knowledge! We do serve an awesome God! That sounds so cliche and so overused as a statement, but it is true of Him! He knows everything today that He will know tomorrow. He can’t be surprised by any new information. He doesn’t forget either! He is truly amazing in His ability to design and create, then have the capacity to perfectly rule and reign over that which He created. Even God Himself is forced to ask this question of those who would challenge His rightful position as Master of all…..
“To whom then will you liken Me That I would be his equal?” says the Holy One.”
Isaiah 40:25
Isaiah writes even more concerning the attributes of our Heavenly Father…..
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.”
Isaiah 40:28-29
He doesn’t grow weary. He doesn’t need rest. He is amazing and He is LORD! And again, He is certainly worthy of our worship!
But let’s revert back to our original question posed. Who else is worthy of worship? What other religious figure aside from God would be worthy of the same adoration and worship as we would give to our Heavenly Father? Who can compare to God? What person in religious history can be considered as worthy of worship in addition to God?
Well there is one, and only one, who stands out. Do you know of whom I refer? Do you understand that when we write of God the Father, we are also writing of Jesus the Son? That they are equal? Can you say that of any other religious figure? That they are equal to God?
The truth is that Jesus carries all of the attributes of the Father! Jesus made these bold statements about Their relationship…..
“I and the Father are one.””
John 10:30
“Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”
John 14:8-9
Jesus, His only begotten Son, is God as well! Can that be said of any other religious figure? And can it be said of any other religious figure that they rule the Universe? Jesus stated this in Matthew…..
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
Matthew 28:18
Paul, in writing to the Church at Colossae, said this about Jesus…..
“I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Colossians 2:2-3 NLT
Think of that; ALL wisdom and ALL knowledge lie in Christ! He doesn’t need to learn anything else. He doesn’t need to research or study. That is amazing to me that He is already the owner of all wisdom and knowledge! Can you say that about any other prophet or religious leader? That they know everything??
Examine these verses in Colossians concerning Jesus….
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him,”
Colossians 1:15-19
All the fullness of the Father resides in Him. In these versus we learn that Jesus created the world and now, through His obedience to the will of the Father, He reigns over that which He created! Can that be said of any other religious figure? That they are reigning over creation? I think not!
The truth is there is only one religious figure who created everything and there is only one who is reigning over that creation. And there is only one religious figure worthy of our worship. His name is not Buddha, or Mohammed, or Gandhi, or Joseph Smith, or Ramakrishna, or the Dalai Lama. He is not enshrined as a statue or in a Tomb or grave or a Mausoleum. He was dead and is now very much alive! He is Jesus the Christ, the Messiah. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. We call Him Emmanuel, the Rose of Sharon, the Living Branch, the Bright and Morning Star, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace, Lord of all Lords, and King of all Kings. He is fully aware; He fully reigns; He possesses all wisdom and knowledge; He is the perfect and righteous Judge; and He is worthy of your praise, your worship, your surrender, and your service! And that cannot be said of ANY other religious figure. Period.
And that’s the way I see it!
