Two Brookhaven Police Officers Shot And Killed

Two Brookhaven MS police officers were killed in a shootout early Saturday morning.
The officers responded to a call of “shots fired” around 5:00 a.m. this morning at a home located at 630 N Sixth Street in Brookhaven, which is located south of Jackson.
The officers have been identified as 31-year-old Zack Moak and 35-year-old James White.
There are not a lot of details of the shooting at this time but one suspect who was wounded in the shootout is in custody.
The suspect, Marquis Flowers, was transported to a Jackson hospital. He is the only suspect involved, Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain said at a news conference. This is an on-going investigation.
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant issued a statement via Twitter regarding the incident, asking for prayers for the family and loved ones of the officers.
