Bring the Family to the Blue Block Party this Friday, April 20th!

Southaven, Miss.
Families are cordially invited to DeSoto County’s free autism awareness event, this Friday, April 20, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m, at 5779 Getwell Road in Southaven.
There will be face painting, fun games, bouncy inflatables, and free food!
Blue Block Party is the annual Autism Awareness Celebration hosted by The Arc Northwest Mississippi, an advocacy organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Partnering with The Arc in hosting this event is Integrated Health, a leading autism diagnosis and therapy group in DeSoto County. Also, local churches and businesses will have information tables set up at Blue Block Party.
“Blue Block Party is a great way for local autism families to come together in an environment of understanding and have fun with the surrounding community,” said Rebecca Treadway, Executive Director of The Arc Northwest Mississippi.
“We host events and programs that help the special needs community live their best lives, support their families, and educate the community,” Treadway explained. “The Arc NWMS believes in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through full inclusion with the community.”
With the motto, “Achieve With Us,” The Arc NWMS welcomes people to check out their website and social media, and to get involved in this good cause.

One out of every ten families in America has a member with an intellectual and developmental disability. There are more than 7.5 million people in the U.S. with an intellectual and developmental disability. Cognitive/intellectual disability is a condition, not a disease.
The Arc Northwest Mississippi is the local affiliate of The Arc of the United States, the world’s largest grassroots advocacy organization for citizens of all ages with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, and their families.
