What if Christ hadn’t come?

Well, it’s the Christmas Season, and all the wonder that comes with it is upon us! We as Christians are celebrating His birth throughout this month, and it’s that birth that ultimately gives us life!

But consider this……what if Jesus had never been born that night in Bethlehem? What if He has decided to stay in Heaven with the Father? Or what if He indeed had been born, but was never crucified? What if He’d changed His mind and had decided that He enjoyed His life on earth? What if He’d gotten married? What if He retired from Ministry that day instead of going to His death on the cross? Instead of dying at age 33, what if He died of a heart attack at age 70 instead? What if???

Well, we know that He DID come, and we know that He WAS crucified, so it’s rather a moot point, but have you ever wondered what would be the outcome of Gentiles without Christ on the cross? The truth is, we wouldn’t stand a chance at inheriting heaven. We would be forever doomed and would incur the wrath of God just as all non-believers will.

If we are a Gentile and not a Jew, then that’s the end of the conversation regarding our eternity. Our best days of being righteous and keeping the Law wouldn’t matter! We would not be allowed into the presence of God. Read Paul’s comment to the Church at Ephesus…

“remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:12‬

No Christ, no mercy, no grace, no second chance; we would be forever banished.
But the good news is, of course, that He DID die, and His death provided us an escape from an eternity without God.

But also ponder this….if you never accept Him as Lord while here on earth; if you never recognize Him as the Son of God; if you never ask Him to forgive you of your sins; then it’s as if He DIDN’T die, as far as your eternity is concerned. His death means nothing if you don’t act on the fact that He died for you. He might as well have stayed in Heaven, for your eternity will have the same outcome; death and separation from God in a place of eternal torment. But you might ask, “Pastor Mike, how can a loving God send people to Hell?” The truth is He doesn’t send anyone to Hell, they send themselves by rejecting Him.

Don’t reject Him this Christmas. Don’t let His life on earth and subsequent death and resurrection be in vain!

Receive Him as your Lord this Season!!

Please?? You will never ever regret it!

And that’s the way I see it!

Pastor Mike
