The Twin Lakes community is mourning the loss of a 17 year old Lake Cormorant Football Player.

Jaquarius Harper, died Saturday morning at a residence in the 5200 block of Longwood Cove.

Horn Lake Police say a group of juveniles that Harper was with were playing with a loaded handgun when the firearm discharged, striking both Harper and another 17-year-old juvenile.

Police were called to the residence at about 10:45 a.m., found Harper non-responsive and the other juvenile suffering a wound to his right arm.

That unidentified teen was taken to Regional One in Memphis in non-critical condition.

Horn Lake Police said, “This is an on-going death investigation, but based off of the initial investigation and evidence located on scene this appears to be an accidental shooting and appears to be a tragic accident”.

Twin Lake residents plan to hold a candle light vigil tonight to celebrate Harper life.

Harper was a linebacker for the Lake Cormorant High School Gators football team.
