Former Southaven Mayor Greg Davis Found Not Guilty
OXFORD, MS
A jury has found former Southaven Mayor Greg Davis not guilty of embezzlement and defrauding the city while he was in office.
Davis was accused of buying a city-leased SUV without approval and accepting mileage reimbursements that were also billed to a city credit card.
He was convicted for the crimes in 2014, but the Mississippi Court of Appeals reversed the ruling, saying the trial should have been moved out of DeSoto County.
The new trial was held in Oxford, Mississippi. The jury deliberated for about an hour to come back with the NOT GUILTY verdict.
Attorney Steve Farese said Davis was able to get a fair trial this time because it was moved out of DeSoto County.
Davis is glad to clear his name and get his life back…
