N.C. “Tom” Ferguson, in his first bid for public office, defeated Hernando Mayor Chip Johnson.
Johnson was seeking a fourth four-year term in Tuesday’s Republican municipal primary election.
The unofficial results from Hernando show Ferguson with 1,589 votes to Johnson 1,168.
