Southaven Explorers Selected To Attend Prestigious Academy

Southaven, MS

Two members of the Southaven Police Explorers Scouts were recently selected to attend the US Border Protection Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in New Mexico. The dates of the Academy are July 23-29.

Chandler Magee 17, and Michel Harwood 17, both Juniors at Southaven High School, were chosen out of hundreds of Explorers nation-wide to attend the prestigious academy Wheeler said.
The Academy is held every two years and only 25 of the most qualified cadets are selected.
Southaven Explorer Post #2623 is part of the Southaven Police Department and is under the direction of Lt. Jerald Wheeler.
Chandler Magee, son of Ron and Debbie Magee of Southaven, said he is very proud to represent the city of Southaven and excited to travel across the country on an air plane for the first time.
Harwood, son of Debbie Kelly of Southaven, said he plans to be a police officer after college and is excited to learn all they have to offer.
Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite and Police Chief Steve Pirtle say these two young men will represent Southaven on a National Level and make usexceptionally proud of their service to our community.
