Psalms‬ ‭23:1-6

1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want (When sheep are in the care of their Shepherd, they have all they need in terms of food, water, and safety. The Lord is MY Shepherd and MY Caretaker; individually, and personally. Its as if I’m the only one in His fold. But He is yours as well, if you have surrendered your heart and are walking in obedience to Him).

2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters (no matter what we are going through, His peace can make it seem as though we’re in a lush green pasture or beside a quiet lake. His peace is calming and surpasses our natural reaction to be stressed in negative situations.)

3.. He restoreth my soul (When I am weary or feeling weak in my battles against the devil, I can rest in Him. Ten minutes of resting, preceded by prayer, allows me to be refreshed. Renewal and restoration comes from Him and His promises).

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. (The gentle voice of the Holy Spirit, if I will listen, tells me the paths that are best. Paths of right doing and honesty. Paths that lead me to doing the things which will bring Him glory).

4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; (I am walking THROUGH that Valley, not setting up camp there, or turning in a change of address card. Everything is temporal when the promises of God await you on the other side of that Valley).

Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. (There is safety under the umbrella of His protection, if I stay in His shadow. He is my Shepherd and His promises are my refuge. Remember that He is the Great Shepherd, and no weapon formed against us will prosper).

5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. (Taste and see the Lord is good. He sustains us with all that brings us life, amidst the devil’s plans and traps to destroy us. Even in the heart of a battle, the Lord provides for us, reminding the enemy that we belong to Him).

Thou anointest my head with oil. (We are anointed to be a Prince or a Princess, the Son or Daughter of a King. He gave us the authority to reign with Him though we don’t deserve it).

My cup runneth over (I have all that I need. A heart of gratitude opens the windows of heaven so that His blessings abound in all areas).

6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. (He has promised this; that those who surrender their hearts and their will to Him, will live under the banner of His mercy, grace, and favor in this life, and will live eternally with Him in the afterlife, forever in His presence).

And to that I say Amen!

And that’s the way I see it.
