Southaven House Fire

Southaven Fire Department responded to a house fire in the Colonial Hills subdivision Thursday afternoon.
The house, located in the 1800 block of Colonial Hills Drive, was heavily involved when the fire department arrived on the scene around 1 p. m.
“We were blessed to get everyone out the the fire started”, said the home owner.
Although the family was able to make it out without injury, their pets were not as lucky. They lost their dog and her puppies due to the heavy smoke.
Southaven Fire responded with 18 firefighters on the scene. They were quick in getting the fire under control but the house may be a total loss because of the extent of the damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Red Cross is working with the family to find them a place to stay but the family is thankful they have family in the neighborhood in the short term.
