Judgement Is Coming

This country has never looked as it does today. Growing up in the 50’s in Missouri, every business in my hometown of Cape Girardeau was closed on Sunday. It was called the Blue Law, and you couldn’t even find a restaurant or car dealer open. And most businesses had signs on their front doors saying “See you in Church Sunday”.

There were only three TV channels; talk radio hadn’t arrived yet (I know this because Rush Limbaugh was a year behind me in school, and when we left Cape in 1963, he was still in Central Junior High, so not likely!). We were a seemingly innocent Nation and life was peaceful as I remember it.

Sure, there was corruption and crime and political divide, but at least it wasn’t in your face. No one “came out” back then for fear of being ostracized, and there wasn’t any ‘cussing’ on TV. We were an innocent people, and I was shielded from a lot of vulgarity and hate back then.

We have certainly slipped downward toward a slimy abyss, and our innocence is long gone, but I have a gentle reminder for those who despair of the current climate. It was long ago forecast…..

“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

”‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:1-5

So we knew it was coming, but we didn’t know it would come so soon, and in such disgusting ways!

That said, if you wish God would intervene and remove the wicked, I want to give you two verses of hope. If you feel the current crop of Politicians, the evil producers of TV and Film, the criminally minded, or the violent liberal protest groups are not being punished and are getting away with their deeds, then be of good cheer…..

‬ “For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.”‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:14

And there’s this…..

…”on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:16

No one is getting away with anything.   Ever.

Paul had much to say about those whose lives are filled with evil….

“And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:2-11

Of course that applies to us as well if we haven’t confessed our sins and repented, so look into your own heart and keep it swept clean, love the Lord with all your being, love your neighbor (but stay out of their bedroom) and worry over your own fate.

Yes, Judgement Day is coming. And I for one want a front row seat, in order to watch certain members of the House of Representatives and Senate squirm as their deeds and motives are reviewed and judgement is passed!

That’s going to be a glorious time!  If you’re fuming at Congress these days, be patient; God keeps perfect records.

And that’s the way I see it!
