What if you were God for a day ?

Imagine that you are God for one day. You are now charged with watching over everyone.
Last year, there was an ant colony in a bed of hollies at one of the buildings I manage. The mound was about a foot high, and I’m guessing there were probably a million ants in that mound, as it went underground too. For the sake of demonstrating the overwhelming insurmountable task of being God, imagine you must watch over just that particular mound of ants.
You must know where each ant is at all times. You must lead each one to food sources continually. You must protect each one from predators, from harmful traps, lead them away from poisons, etc. No harm must come to a single ant without your being aware. Though they are wandering over 8 acres of ground and building it makes no difference; you must watch over each one. Sound impossible? Of course it would be!
Now, escalate that to 7 billion people scattered over all the Earth! You’re now God for a day, and not only are You watching over that many people, You know intimate exacting details about each one. You created them and You know their emotions, their dreams, their motivation. You hear their prayers. You know their secrets. You know their future.
As God today, You are in control of the entire Universe and the clock never stops ticking allowing You to have a a break. And there is no let up in the demands of the ones that believe in You!
They are continually praying for a gazillion needs to be met. They’re in constant peril and in constant need, but there’s no rest for You now that You’re God…You must be diligent!
Sound overwhelming to be Him for a day? Then give Him wondrous shouts of praise, because God has been simply AMAZING at being God for Centuries! He not only created each one of us, He does indeed watch over us as well! Nothing escapes His notice or happens without His being aware!
Consider the words of King David as he contemplated the wonder of God…..
“O Lord, You have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place Your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! I can never escape from Your Spirit! I can never get away from Your presence! If I go up to heaven, You are there; if I go down to the grave, You are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there Your hand will guide me, and Your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from You. To You the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to You. You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank You for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, You are still with me!
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends You, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”Psalms 139:1-18, 23-24 NLT
Consider Jesus’ words as well in describing the Father…..
“What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”Matthew 10:29-31 NLT
Yes, you are indeed valuable to Him. Good grief, He knows the number of hairs on your head!
Be grateful today that HE is GOD! And be grateful today that He knows what He is doing! And let Him be God in your life! Let Him rule over your life in perfect wisdom! Seek Him that you might know His plans for you. And then trust Him with those plans! Give Him control! Then rejoice that He is in control and that you’re being watched over! Join with King David in praising the Lord…..
“O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for You. My soul thirsts for You; my whole body longs for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen You in Your sanctuary and gazed upon Your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You! I will praise You as long as I live, lifting up my hands to You in prayer.”Psalms 63:1-4 NLT
Praise the Lord that He is God! Praise the Lord indeed!
And that’s the way I see it.
