Possible Grenades Found At Southaven Goodwill

Southaven, Ms

The parking lot of the Goodwill store on Stateline was packed with Police and Fire Units along with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad today.

“Around 3 o’clock this afternoon, we were called to the Goodwill on Stateline in reference to the store finding two possible grenades” said,

Steve Pirtle Chief of the Southaven Police Department.

The store was evacuated as a safety precaution. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad was called and the ATF notified.

The Bomb Squad was able to determine that one of grenades was a novelty item and the other was inert.

Even though the second one appeared not to be a danger the Bomb Squad transported it to be disposed of as a safety precaution.

The items were part of a donation that had been transferred from another Goodwill to be sorted and sold.

After a few hours the employees and customers were allowed to return back to the store.

Police report there were no injuries but the investigation continues.
