A State Lottery Could Be Coming To Mississippi

Governor Bryant has issued the call for a special session.
Lawmakers are heading to Jackson and will get back to business at the State Capitol at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
There are two items on the agenda, the “Mississippi Infrastructure Modernization Act” and an act to create a statewide lottery.
The infrastructure portion of the session will be about using revenue that’s generate by internet sales tax, sports betting.
A portion of those dollars could be directed to state and local government to repair infrastructure and maintenance.
The Governor is also hopeful that they lawmakers will create a state lottery,
Governor Bryant says that the lottery can create a new annual revenue stream of more than 200 million dollars.
State lawmakers the Desoto County Newsroom contacted believe the lottery bill has enough support to pass.
