City Of Horn Lake Offers Pet Insurance To Employees

Horn Lake,Ms

The city of Horn Lake is the first in the county to offer pet insurance for their employees. The Board of Alderman recently approved allowing payroll deductions for the program.

“This is something that will benefit all of our employees that have pets”, said AJ Linville Human Resources Director/Assistant City Clerk.

Pet insurance is quickly becoming one of the most requested benefits among employees nationwide. This is the same type of insurance that Fortune 500 companies offer their workers.

“A lot of employees treat their animals like a family member,” said Linville.

Pet insurance is a extra benefit that employees can add and remove from their payroll deduction plans at any time.

Mayor Allen Latimer says, “it is 100 percent paid for by the employee so there is no monetary cost to the city”.

“But by being a group program, rates will be much lower than if the employee would take out an individual plan”, the Mayor added.

“The insurance plan being offered by Nationwide through the city’s current insurance broker and is the best program out there”, said Linville. There are two plans being offered. They are called My Pet Protection and My Pet Protection with Wellness.
