Mississippi Second Amendment Tax Free Weekend Holiday

Local gun stores are gearing up for one of the biggest weekends of the year: Mississippi’s Annual Second Amendment Tax Free Weekend.

For hunting enthusiasts, it’s a huge holiday. Starting Friday, Mississippi will remove its 7 percent sales tax for firearms, ammunition, archery equipment and some hunting supplies. Businesses in the area say it’s a weekend they look forward to every year.

Dabbs Pawn, one of the biggest gun shops in DeSoto County is ready for the crowds.

“ We are stocked and ready to go” said Jane Dabbs the owner of the 40 year old gun and pawn shop, adding “we look forward to seeing some of our old friends that make a point to take advantage of the savings”.

The savings start Friday, Aug. 25 at midnight and ends Sunday, Aug. 27 at 11:59 p.m.
