High Speed Chase Ends In Downtown Hernando

DeSoto County, MS

Walls’ police spotted a stolen vehicle Friday morning at Hwy 61 and Starlandling Rd with a man and woman inside and tried to stop them.

But the driver had different plans. He lead police on a high speed chase across the county at speeds

as high as 90 miles per hour according to Walls Police Chief Herb Brewer.

“We had officers from three departments chasing this vehicle, and even the county’s helicopter,

as they made their way through the county.”

The two bailed out of the stolen the vehicle in the parking lot of a Hernando attorney’s office on Hwy. 51.

The male suspect was apprehended after a short foot chase and he had to be tased during the arrest.

The woman was rounded up quickly and also arrested.

The two are identified as Chaz Murphy (24) and Regina Reynolds (38) both of Memphis.

Charges against the pair include receiving stolen property, felony fleeing, possession of a controlled substance,

and possession of burglary tools. Other charges are still pending.

Both are being held at the DeSoto County Jail on a $51,000 and $10,000 bond respectively.

“This was a great team effort between all the departments, it worked out perfectly” said

Hernando Police Chief Scott Worsham.
