Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Association President Richard Chandler presented DeSoto County Sheriffs Department SGT Hunter Garrett and Deputy Brandon Hutchens with the MLEOA 2017 “Officers of the Year” Award.
SGT Garrett and Deputy Hutchens were both involved in a shoot out at the Kroger in Southaven months ago leaving both of them wounded, yet they were able to return fire, saving those around them from further harm. They are both back to duty now and are continuing to serve the citizens of this great county.
We are forever grateful to them for their heroic actions that night.
