Preach It

Southaven,Ms

Throughout the morning a line from an old Hymnal has been bouncing around in my sometimes empty brain; “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way”…

Just an old Hymn, but the depth of that simple truth is staggering. What is Trust? How do we cultivate it? How do we display it in our darkest times?

Well, trust for me is not a verb, but a Lifestyle. It’s saying that no matter what we are facing, God is in control. He has this, and every other situation, IF I am truly trusting Him. It’s looking back over my perils and trials throughout my life and seeing that He HAS been there. It’s always worked out in the end.
I have a favorite saying…
It’s going to be OK in the end. If it’s not OK, it’s not the end”.
True ‘Trust’ is knowing His promises and knowing that they apply to us. It’s knowing that He never will leave us, and that He really does care about our troubles. Even when those troubles are self inflicted by our own bad choices. It’s knowing that not only is He capable of helping us, but that He DESIRES to help us!
Looking back, He has always delivered me. Not in the way I sometimes would have wanted, but always in His better and wiser way! And always on HIS schedule not mine!

The truth is, when we couple ‘Trust’ with our prayers, we give Him permission to operate His way, not ours. That’s true Trust! To know that He is operating in our best interest according to HIS will, and on HIS timetable.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way; to be happy in Jesus, you must Trust and Obey.
